Hawaii Optimum Performance Coordinates Successful Events with 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist Bryan Clay

Free Speed Training Clinics were held across the islands with Hawaii s own, 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist in the decathlon, Bryan Clay.

Sponsored by Hawaii Pacific Health, Bryan was assisted by his speed coach Rana Reider from the University of Florida, his strength coach Mike Barnett from Azusa Pacific University, Kevin Chang and Ross Oshiro from Hawaii Optimum Performance and the University of Hawaii Track & Field team. Designed for all sports, the objectives of the clinic were to teach the participants proper running mechanics and power development techniques.

10/11/2008, Saturday - Clinic - Speed Training with 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist Bryan Clay - See flyer for times
Held in Manoa at the University of Hawaii s Cooke Field over 200 boys & girls 12-18 years of age participated in the speed training clinic.

October - Sunday, 10/12/2008 - Clinic - Speed Training with 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist Bryan Clay on Kauai - 12pm - 3pm
Held at Vidinha Stadium in Lihue over 250 boys & girls 7-18 years of age participated in the speed training clinic.


October - Tuesday, 10/14/2008 - Seminar - Teen and Youth Obesity: Time for Action - 7:00pm - 8:30pm
In an effort to keep our island keikis healthy and fight against childhood obesity, Saint Louis School along with Hawaii Optimum Performance and Straub Clinic & Hospital sponsored a free seminar at Mamiya Theater on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. Olympic Decathlon Gold Medalist Bryan Clay, Straub Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Cass Nakasone, and Registered Dietitian Sally Belles from Straub Clinic & Hospital shared information on Hawaii's growing youth obesity problem and options to better health.
